Figurement and New Balance have expanded their collaboration to transform how footwear products are designed, reviewed, and communicated across global teams. The partnership focuses on replacing traditional 2D based Tech Pack workflows with connected 3D processes that unite every function around a shared, visual source of truth.
A Shared Goal: Moving Beyond 2D
For years, footwear teams have relied on manual, document driven processes that connect design, development, and manufacturing. While these methods are effective, they depend on static 2D assets, repeated data entry, and interpretation across tools and regions.
Together, Figurement and New Balance are rethinking this workflow around a Live 3D Tech Pack — a single collaborative environment where models, materials, and color data remain connected and accurate at every stage. The approach reduces rework, shortens review cycles, and improves alignment between design, development, and factory partners.
Focus Areas of the Collaboration
- Building live CMF libraries that connect digital materials, finishes, and colors directly to 3D product models
- Streamlining Tech Pack generation through linked geometry and metadata
- Enabling real time collaboration between distributed design and development teams
- Improving data integrity by ensuring that every update to a 3D model, material, or color is reflected everywhere automatically
These efforts make it possible to iterate faster, rely on fewer physical samples, and achieve higher visual precision throughout the footwear creation process.
A Step Toward Connected Design
The collaboration builds on progress made through pilot implementations and live sessions with design and development teams. By combining Figurement’s browser based rendering and collaboration platform with the practical needs of large scale footwear creation, both organizations are defining a connected design system that links visualization, data, and production intent.
Our shared focus is to make 3D design the connective tissue of how teams work together. Footwear development has always required precision and coordination, but the tools have not kept pace. By turning Tech Packs into live, collaborative experiences, we are helping teams move faster and make better informed decisions.
